2020 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials Qualifier, High School Math Teacher
Alyssa grew up in the Chicago suburbs, where she now teaches High School Math and coaches Cross Country and Track. Alyssa graduated from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana, where she competed as a Cross Country and Track & Field athlete. She ran her Olympic Trails Qualifying time at the Chicago Marathon in 2017 with a time of 2:42:50, and bested that time at the 2019 Chicago Marathon, finishing as the 18th overall woman in a time of 2:35:31. She loves being a part of the Chicago running community and running with her team, Second City Track Club.
I was pretty good at fueling, but I never really found a hydration product I liked. I didn’t like how some products have a lot of extra added sugars, so I defaulted to mostly water, but marathon training requires more than just water and I wasn’t getting enough electrolytes.
