How to Use

  • Pre-workout: Mix 1 serving with 8-12 oz water and shake vigorously, or add to food and stir until smooth. Consume 30-45 minutes before your workout. One serving delivers 60-90 minutes of sustained energy. For longer or more intense workouts, fuel with multiple servings of UCAN for extended energy.
  • Mixing tips: Add desired amount of water to shaker bottle before adding UCAN powder. Add powder to water and shake vigorously. For a smoother consistency, let chill for a few hours or up to 48 hours. Shake again immediately before consuming.
  • During workout: Drink a serving of UCAN every 60-90 minutes during longer endurance workouts. Most athletes “feed” with UCAN and consume a serving over 5-10 minutes rather than sipping it slowly like a traditional sports drink. Practice and see what works best for you.
  • How to Make a UCAN Gel: Mixing your UCAN into a “gel” form is a convenient way to carry and consume UCAN for endurance athletes training and competing for several hours. Add one serving of UCAN to a bowl. Slowly pour water into the bowl (use 2-4 oz per serving) and stir vigorously until the UCAN is a paste-like consistency. Transfer to a gel flask and consume during exercise.

    Question

    Robert Brownell

I was told NOT to take anything with sugar at the same time as the Performance Energy drink – I was told “bad things can happen”. Is that true? When doing triathlon, I like to drink the Coke or Red Bull they have on the run course, will that really create a problem if I am using this product as my main fuel?

Hi Robert – when fueling with UCAN, you’ll find that your re-fueling needs will be much less frequent. So we typically tell athletes that they don’t need to follow the standard sugar-based fueling protocol if they’re also using UCAN. That being said, you can still have a positive impact from UCAN even if you’re mixing in some sugars along the way, especially towards the later stages of your event. Our SuperStarch energy source breaks down steadily over time, so you’ll be less prone to feeling a blood sugar crash if you have UCAN in your system already. So overall we’d say that you can try to minimize sugars when fueling with UCAN, especially early in the race/training, but if you feel the need to take in some sugars later on then it won’t throw off the impact of UCAN. Hope this helps!

UCAN is the only nutrition product that I trust to fuel my training and racing-sustained energy, no ‘crash,’ and no GI distress! I work hard in my training to maximize my performance and UCAN ensures that I’ll be able to display that hard work on the race course without risk of fueling issues!
