How to Use

  • Pre-workout: Mix 1 serving with 8-12 oz water and shake vigorously, or add to food and stir until smooth. Consume 30-45 minutes before your workout. One serving delivers 60-90 minutes of sustained energy. For longer or more intense workouts, fuel with multiple servings of UCAN for extended energy.
  • Mixing tips: Add desired amount of water to shaker bottle before adding UCAN powder. Add powder to water and shake vigorously. For a smoother consistency, let chill for a few hours or up to 48 hours. Shake again immediately before consuming.
  • During workout: Drink a serving of UCAN every 60-90 minutes during longer endurance workouts. Most athletes “feed” with UCAN and consume a serving over 5-10 minutes rather than sipping it slowly like a traditional sports drink. Practice and see what works best for you.
  • How to Make a UCAN Gel: Mixing your UCAN into a “gel” form is a convenient way to carry and consume UCAN for endurance athletes training and competing for several hours. Add one serving of UCAN to a bowl. Slowly pour water into the bowl (use 2-4 oz per serving) and stir vigorously until the UCAN is a paste-like consistency. Transfer to a gel flask and consume during exercise.

    sorry for asking a probably often asked question.
    many of my weekday sessions are only up to 1 hour in duration, do these need to be fuelled using UCAN?
    also as I am in Ireland and cant get the UCAN protein should I just add a regular protein to the mix.

      Hi Gerry – for your shorter sessions, you can simply use less UCAN to fuel you. Our Workout Energy Powder has a 20g serving size, which is ideal for 60-90 minutes of training. The other benefit people find from fueling up with UCAN before a workout of 1 hour is that the steadiness in energy from UCAN will carry over post-workout, so you won’t have a dip or a blood sugar low immediately when you’re done. This allows people to have more balanced energy going into their post-workout meal and helps them make better choices.

      Since you can’t get our protein versions in Ireland, adding a regular protein with minimal carbohydrates/sugar to your UCAN product will work just fine!

    I just started using Ucan Superstarch a few weeks ago and wish I would have found it sooner. I’ve tried both the workout and performance products and love them both. I’m using the performance energy for long runs of an hour and a half or more and I use the workout energy for everything else. Once I’m warmed up I feel like I can just keep going. I’ve also noticed that after my runs I recover quicker. One trick I learned from a helpful Ucan Team Member is to mix my superstarch the night before and place it in the refrigerator. This way it’s thoroughly mixed and cold when I drink it pre-run. Personally, I like to use a blender to mix the superstarch. I’m glad I don’t have to force down gels anymore. They always caused stomach issues and gave me a huge sugar spike followed by a crash. I would highly recommend both the performance energy and workout energy to anyone who’s involved in any type of endurance exercise/activity.
